How much does a website designer make a year?
3 Comments | Posted by admin in website designer
I recently got dreamweaver 8 and am thinking to make websites for people as a side job. I was wondering, what does a website designer usually charge per job? or what is an annual estimate on salary? how long does it usually take for a single job?
It totally depends on what route you go down for website design and development. Whether it be databases, php security, general design and development or graphics. Usually a designer can charge between $200 and $2,000 per website, so as you can see – a massive range!
Again, a single job just depends. I have been designing websites for about 6 years now and for the first 3 years it took about a week of designing per site – with 2 hours a day. Now I can make a site within 5 hours. So you will speed up,
For a website with just 6 – 12 pages I would say you could charge between $200 & $400 per site. Depending on your quality of coding and design.
Anyway, I wish you all the best of luck and if you have any more questions don’t hesitate to send me a message,
Best Wishes,

Depends who your clients are. Working alone, you will be spending lots of your time finding new business, which is part of your hourly rate.
I don’t do them as my main business, but I can’t avoid the occasional web design job. I charge a flat rate, based on how long I think it will take, after interviewing the customer for at least an hour. I charge $75 and hour, and I work with a graphics artist that charges $35 an hour. I do all of the Javascript and Ajax stuff, but I don’t have an eye for color.
Dreamweaver is good for Web 1.0 sites, but for you will be writing lots of code in Notepad for modern sites.
