And are you happy with your chosen professions? Why or why not? Thanks for answering!

I’ve chosen to get into game development because I’ve been interested in it since I was in about 2nd grade. I love games, I love creating them, and I have strong opinions about what makes a game fun to play.

As far as whether or not I’m happy in this profession, I can’t say yet as I’m still in school for it. I’m loving the schooling so far ;)

No, web page design is not easy. It’s actually rather complicated! During this hard economic time, would it be wise to not be a web page designer and stick to something that’s sure to give me a job, like being a registered nurse? Anything related to medical is almost a necessity here in America. Web page design definitely isn’t. I don’t know what to do! Please help me.

i would advise you to do something in the medical field. jobs in web page design and computer technology are constantly being outsourced and it is extremely hard to find work in that field..even with a bachelor’s degree. you will be the first to get laid off too. computer technology is always changing and it will require continued education. in the medical field, your all but guaranteed employment with only an associates degree.

Here are the biggest names in our industry that are respected for using ethical techniques and give truly useful bits of information. SEOMoz has a monthly pro subscription that gives you a lot of tools and guides for beginners.

I would also recommed reading the blog of Matt Cutts, the guy in charge of search quality and webspam at Google for the last several years: http://www.mattcutts.com

And if you are not into reading then get an account at http://www.lynda.com – they have a lot of instructional videos on various web-related subjects including SEO.

At the time being I don’t have any experience in flash programming. I plan to get books and do lots of self-study. I can say that I am diligent and dedicated once I put my heart in what I am doing. I have a regular job so i’l just be studying after I get home from work. How many months do you think it would take for me to become a very good flash website designer?

more than 3 months.

It doesn’t make sense. I’ve even seen it on the sites of actual web design/developers and it’s such a contradiction. Surely they test their work on Macs and see the problem.

It works on Safari 3 Beta.

I’ll take you’re word for it, but I’m a little confused as it why it doesn’t work on earlier versions of Safari, as all it’s just Flash and (I assume) some JavaScript.

Maybe the problem’s in the js, but I’ve never actually used sIFR myself.

What’s ironic is that Macs are the only platform where you can get high-quality font smoothing without using sIFR.
